PLASTICS are very special, there are different kinds of plastics suitable and unsuitable for plating and each kind has a different preparation process before chroming. There are three basic ways of chrome plating plastics. First method is done by etching the parts with strong chromic acid, following with electroless copper plating, a conventional plating process (Copper/Nickel/Chrome) would be applied after this stage. Second method is called electroforming which consist of a conductive paint and electroless Tin or copper plating, after this stage again conventional plating should be applied. Third method is based on electroless coating , in this method a layer of reflective material (Nickel/Silver) with the close reflective characteristics of Chrome substitute the conventional electro plating process, Atlas Plating uses the third method of metalizing. after the metalization process a two parts automotive top coat will seal the part.  Since we can't polish plastics and also because of top coat you may see an orange peel effect  on finish parts.  This top coat layer also can be  tinted in different colors.

COLORS: Black, Blue, Aqua blue, Orange, Brown, Green, Gold, Burgundy, Red

 Metalizing shows better results on small parts, we don't recommend metalizing on parts larger than 16"x16". similar to chrome plating the thickness and coverage of deposition reduces in deep corners and a yellowish tint like Nickel may show through, for this reason we don't recommend metalizing on big grills. on the rough surfaces the metalized layer also shows the roughness, we can reduce the roughness a little bit but  not totally.
